Water Heater Installation & Replacement in Las Vegas

A new tank or tankless water heater, installed to Clark County code and sized for the valley’s hard water, with the old unit hauled away.

Water heater installation in Las Vegas is usually a replacement, not a brand-new rough-in. The tank that came with the house has been sitting on Colorado River water for a decade, the sediment layer is thick, and the steel is tired. Kingdom Plumbing replaces tank and tankless heaters across the valley and pulls the permit the job requires.

Hard water is the reason these units die early here. Calcium drops out of solution, blankets the burner or element, and the heater runs longer to make the same hot water. A straight swap of the same undersized tank puts you back on that clock. We measure recovery, fixture count, and whether a recirculation line is already in the wall before we recommend a size.

Repair is still the right call when the tank itself is sound. If you are not sure, start with [water heater repair](/water-heater-repair/). If the tank is leaking from the body, or the unit is past about ten years in this water, installation is the job.

Kingdom Plumbing is a top-rated Las Vegas plumber, and if this can't wait, our 24/7 emergency plumbers dispatch around the clock.

What a Las Vegas install actually includes

A code install here is more than setting a new tank on the old pad. We shut the cold inlet, drain and disconnect the old heater, and set a drain pan where the floor can take a leak. Gas units get a new flexible connector and a sediment trap checked. Electric units get the breaker and wire size confirmed before the element is energized.

Clark County and the City of Las Vegas expect an expansion tank on a closed system, and most valley homes are closed once a pressure-reducing valve or check valve is on the meter. We add the expansion tank when the system needs one instead of leaving it for the inspector to fail.

The old heater leaves with us. You get a flat-rate number before the water is shut off, and you approve it. Same-day replacement is normal when the closet or garage will take a stock size we carry.

Tank, tankless, or a like-for-like swap

A 40- or 50-gallon tank still fits most single-family garages and the older central-valley water-heater closets. It is the fastest replacement and the one most homes were built around.

Tankless makes sense when several showers run at once, which is common in larger Summerlin and northwest floor plans, and when you have the gas line and venting to support it. Venting a tankless through an existing B-vent is a common reason a “simple” swap turns into a different job. We say so at the quote. Details on that equipment are on our tankless water heaters page.

Either way, the heater lasts longer downstream of a softener. Scale is what killed the last one. If the house does not have treatment yet, we will tell you what a water softener changes about the next ten years, without bundling it into the heater price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a permit to replace a water heater in Las Vegas?
Yes. A water heater replacement in the City of Las Vegas and in unincorporated Clark County is a permitted job. We pull it. Skipping the permit is how a later sale or insurance claim gets complicated, and it is not how we install.
How long does a tank replacement take?
A like-for-like tank in a garage or a standard closet is usually a single visit, often a few hours including the drain and haul-away. Tankless, a relocation, or a venting change takes longer, and we will say so before you approve the price.
Should I go tankless when I replace?
Only if the gas supply and venting can support it and your household actually runs out of hot water. A correctly sized tank is the better install for many valley homes. We quote both when both are realistic, and we do not push tankless into a closet that cannot vent it.
Which office installs in my neighborhood?
Centennial Hills and the northwest are covered from 8311 Farm Rd, Suite B, Las Vegas, NV 89131, (702) 840-5037. Summerlin and the west side are covered from 9960 W Cheyenne Ave, Suite 140, Las Vegas, NV 89129, (702) 623-9394. The area pages below name the office for that neighborhood.
