Summerlin was an early market for water softeners, so a lot of garages in The Vistas, The Trails, and Sun City already have a brine tank. Those houses still buy bottled water. The softener did its job on hardness and left the chlorine in the water, which is what you taste in coffee and what you smell if you fill a glass from the fridge door.
The install we do most often here is a carbon filter on the garage main, downstream of the softener, plus a reverse-osmosis faucet at the kitchen. Summerlin kitchens generally have the cabinet space the older central-valley houses do not. We still look, because a pot-filler and a disposal can eat the corner an RO tank needs. We do not pipe RO to the hose bibs or the pool fill. That water is for drinking and cooking.
Call the Summerlin office, not the northwest one: Kingdom Plumbing, 9960 W Cheyenne Ave, Suite 140, Las Vegas, NV 89129, (702) 623-9394. If you do not have a softener yet and the fixtures are crusted, filtration alone will disappoint you. Get the softener quoted with it.
