In Huntridge, Rancho, Charleston Heights, and the rest of the central core, cold-water aerators clog with grit that a softener will not stop. Galvanized lines shed from the inside. After a water-main shutdown on these older blocks, the first water back into the house is often rusty. A sediment stage on the main is what keeps that grit out of the faucet cartridges and out of a carbon filter.
The chlorine taste is a separate complaint, and it shows up in coffee and ice even in houses that already softened the water. Carbon on the whole house is what you smell in the shower. Reverse osmosis belongs under the kitchen sink. Many of these kitchens were built with a single small cabinet, so we check the sink base before we promise an RO storage tank will fit next to the disposal.
This work is dispatched from Kingdom Plumbing, 9960 W Cheyenne Ave, Suite 140, Las Vegas, NV 89129, (702) 623-9394. Hardness and scale are a softener question. If that is the stain on the shower door, start with water softener installation instead of adding another filter.
Valley-wide, this work lives on our water filtration page. The neighborhood overview is our Las Vegas plumber page. Hard-water scale is a different system: water softener installation in Las Vegas.
