Houses in The Ridges and along the Red Rock edge often already have a softener because the finishes show scale immediately. The remaining complaint is taste at a pot-filler or a fridge that is a long way from the garage. A carbon filter at the main fixes the chlorine for every tap, including the one upstairs that a kitchen-only system never reaches. Reverse osmosis is still a kitchen and beverage-center system. Running RO through the whole house on a custom home wastes water and is not what we install.
Mechanical rooms here are bigger than a Centennial garage, which makes the housings easy and the piping less so. There may be a dedicated filtered line the builder started and capped. We use it if it is real. We do not invent a loop inside a finished wall to reach a butler’s pantry when an under-sink system solves the same glass of water. Sediment is uncommon unless the private-side piping has been disturbed.
