A Paradise condo near Maryland Parkway or Winchester often has no garage and a kitchen measured in inches. Whole-home filter housings need a wall on the cold main after the meter, and a lot of these units do not give you that wall. The install that actually happens is reverse osmosis or a compact carbon filter under the kitchen sink, with a small faucet, so cooking water is not bottled water. We measure the cabinet. If the disposal and the trap leave no room for a storage tank, we say so and pick a tank that fits or we do not sell the system.
Single-family houses in Paradise Palms and the University District are more likely to have a side yard or a garage main, and those can take a whole-home carbon filter. The water is still chlorinated Colorado River water. A softener, if the fixtures are scaling, is a second piece of equipment and needs its own space. Rental houses around UNLV are a common call: the tenant tastes the water, the owner wants the cheapest thing that is real. Under-sink RO is usually that thing. A softener in a rental with no one to add salt is a bad recommendation, and we will say that.
