If water is loose inside your home right now, the next ten minutes matter more than the next ten hours. Shut it off at the fixture if there is a valve you can reach. If there is not, go to the house main, usually on the street-facing side of the home near the garage or in a wall box, and close it. Then call (702) 840-5037. A real person picks up at any hour, and we keep working the problem with you while you are still on the line.
Red Rock area homes add a wrinkle most of the valley does not have. Lots out here are large, and the meter at the curb can be a long walk from the house, so the valve on the building is almost always the faster one to reach in the dark. The rim also sits higher than the valley floor, which means your pressure regulator is doing more work than a regulator in a flat neighborhood. A regulator that quits is one of the most common reasons a supply line lets go all at once.
Kingdom Plumbing dispatches the Red Rock area from our W Cheyenne Avenue shop in the northwest valley. We will be straight with you about that: it is a real drive out to the rim, and anyone who tells you a truck is sitting around the corner from Blue Diamond is guessing. What we will do is answer, help you contain the damage, and give you a flat-rate price you approve before anybody starts working. We hold NV Contractors License #0085422.
Kingdom Plumbing is a top-rated Las Vegas plumber, and if this can't wait, our 24/7 emergency plumbers dispatch around the clock.

The First Ten Minutes, Before Anyone Gets There
Start at the closest valve. Under a sink or behind a toilet that is the angle stop, and in a hard-water market those stems calcify, so turn it with light pressure and stop if it feels like it is about to snap. A broken shutoff on a line you cannot close turns one leak into two. If the handle will not move, leave it alone and go to the house main instead.
If the water heater is the source, shut the cold inlet valve on top of the tank, then cut the heat: the breaker on an electric unit, or the gas control knob to off on a gas unit. Do not stand in standing water to reach an electrical panel, and if water is near outlets or can lights, kill that circuit first. Our walkthrough on what to do when a water heater is leaking covers the order in more detail.
Then contain and document. Towels and buckets at the thresholds, anything off the floor that can be lifted, and photos before you start mopping. On rim homes the finishes are usually the expensive part of the bill, not the pipe. Our emergency plumbing and 24 hour plumber pages explain how the after-hours call itself works.
What Actually Breaks on the Western Rim
The pressure regulator comes first. Elevation changes across the rim, so a regulator setting that is correct for a lot below yours can be wrong at your house. The warnings arrive before the failure does, and the cheapest one to catch is a toilet that will not stop topping itself off, since the fill valve is a cheap part sitting at full line pressure all day. A relief valve weeping at the water heater with no hot water running is the next. A knock in the walls when a tap shuts is the one people live with longest. Our guide to low water pressure in a Las Vegas home covers the regulator's role from the other direction.
Then there is the long service run. Large western lots put far more buried pipe between the meter and the house than a standard subdivision lot, and a leak along that run can waste water underground for weeks before anything shows at the building. The tell is a meter dial that keeps moving with every fixture in the house off, a wet patch or an unexplained green strip in gravel landscaping, or a bill that jumps with nothing changed. Both leak detection and repair and our piece on why a Las Vegas water bill spikes start there.
Slab leaks and cold nights round out the list. Most rim homes sit on slab, so a failed under-slab line shows up as a warm spot on tile or stone, the sound of running water with everything closed, or flooring that stays damp. The slab leak warning signs are worth knowing before you need them. The rim also runs colder than the valley floor on the handful of freezing nights each year, which is why hose bibbs and exposed exterior lines split out here and almost never split downtown.
The Rim Is Five Different Emergencies
Red Rock area addresses run from 89135 and 89138 on the western edge of Summerlin out to 89161 inside the conservation area and 89004 down in Blue Diamond, and the emergency in one is not the emergency in another. In The Cliffs, homes are built into a slope, so an upstairs failure travels down inside the walls to the lowest finished level. In Mesa Ridge, the ground is thin soil over rock and a surprising share of emergencies are outside the house entirely. In Siena, the hard part is often that nobody is home to hear it.
Two of these communities are not on the municipal network at all. Calico Basin homes draw from private wells through pressure tanks and drain to septic systems, so there is no curb valve to close and no city main to blame. Blue Diamond runs on its own local water system, and its mid-century housing carries plumbing of the same vintage. If you called a plumber who treats every address like a tract home in Spring Valley, these are the two places that goes wrong fastest.
We wrote a separate emergency page for each one, because the first ten minutes genuinely differ: emergency plumber in The Cliffs, Mesa Ridge, Siena, Calico Basin, and Blue Diamond. Find yours and read it before you need it. Ten minutes of reading on a quiet evening is worth more than any phone script we could give you at 2 a.m.
What It Costs, and What We Will Not Put a Number On
Every price is a flat rate you approve before work starts, so there is no hourly meter running while we work out what failed. For planning, the published Las Vegas ranges are a reasonable guide: leak detection typically runs $150 to $550 depending on how hidden the leak is, drain clearing $150 to $450, a tank water heater replacement $1,600 to $3,500 installed, and a slab leak repair $2,000 to $6,000 depending on access and whether the line is repaired or rerouted. Our full guide to what plumbing repairs cost in Las Vegas lists the rest. Those are ranges to budget against, not quotes.
We will not price your specific job over the phone, and you should be careful with anyone who does. A national chain carries advertising and call-center overhead that has to be recovered on invoices somewhere, and the cheapest number you get from a stranger who has not seen the leak is a guess that tends to grow once the wall is open. An unlicensed handyman can beat anyone on a patch, right up to the point where the patch is the decision that causes the next failure.
There are also jobs where no honest published range exists, and on the rim that is a real category: well pumps, pressure tanks, and septic work are not in the Las Vegas price guide, so we do not invent a number for them. You get a flat rate at the property after a technician has looked at the system, and we are licensed under NV Contractors License #0085422 for every bit of it.
