Henderson drinks hard water off Lake Mead, and many houses already run a softener. A softener does not take chlorine out of the cooking water. Whole-home carbon filtration and a reverse osmosis faucet are that second system, and a lot of Green Valley, Anthem, and Inspirada houses end up with both.
Green Valley landing notes on this site cite roughly 16 to 17 grains per gallon from the Las Vegas Valley Water District for that part of Henderson. That number is hardness, which is the softener's job. It is not a filter size. We test at the house before we spec carbon or a reverse osmosis membrane.
